Domain is an ability word, not a keyword ability with its own rules. It marks a group of abilities that all check the number of basic land types among lands you control—Plains, Island, Swamp, Mountain, and Forest. The exact effect varies: a creature might gain landwalk, you might reveal cards equal to that number, gain 2 life per type, or get +1/+0 per type.
Because the count cares about basic land types, not basic lands, a single land with multiple types can raise the number quickly. In play, Domain rewards decks that assemble a variety of land types, turning mana fixing into a scaling payoff. The more types you control, the stronger each Domain ability becomes.
