Pitch Black

Pitch Black (PBL) is the 84-card base set of the Mega Evolution series, released on July 17, 2026, following Chaos Rising and marking the next major chapter in the Pokémon TCG's ongoing evolution theme. This set continues the series' focus on powerful Mega Evolved Pokémon, with a strong emphasis on dual-type and evolved forms, as seen in the inclusion of Mega Delphox ex and Heatran. The set expands the roster with new and returning Pokémon such as Tropius, Grubbin, Fomantis, Lurantis ex, Poltchageist, Sinistcha, Sizzlipede, Centiskorch, Charcadet, and Armarouge, blending classic designs with fresh artwork. With 36 additional secret-rare cards beyond the base 84, Pitch Black offers collectors a layered release with high-value chase variants, including the coveted Special Illustration Rare and Mega Hyper Rare cards.

The set's design leans into a dark, atmospheric aesthetic, reflected in its name and visual motifs, while maintaining the high-energy battle style of the Mega Evolution era. As the final release in the current series arc, Pitch Black serves as a climactic chapter before the next major set, setting the stage for future developments in the Pokémon TCG's narrative and mechanics.
