Snakes in Magic are a scattered but distinctive creature type, appearing across many worlds as cunning predators, sacred guardians, and strange ophidian sages. They are most often Blue or Green, emphasizing stealth, venom, and adaptation over brute force. Some slither through jungles and rivers, while others coil in ruins or temples, giving the type a broad flavor range from wild beast to calculating intelligence.
Snake typal decks generally blend Blue's card draw and evasion with Green's mana acceleration and creature support. They tend to build a wide board of Snakes, then leverage lords or tribal payoffs that reward having many serpents. Because many Snakes are small or mid-sized, these decks often rely on incremental advantage, deathtouch, and +1/+1 counters to compete. The result is a flexible, value-oriented tribe that can shift between aggressive swarms and grindy, synergistic boards.
