Archers are ranged combatants who appear across Magic's worlds, from elven longbowmen in forest realms to skeletal marksmen and disciplined human troops. They share a taste for reach and precision, often striking from a distance while sturdier allies hold the line. In many settings they are tied to woodland cultures or military orders, and their art is one of patience: pick the moment, then loose.
Typal Archer decks tend to be creature-heavy and combat-focused. Because many Archers have abilities that trigger when they tap or block, pilots often look for ways to untap them repeatedly or give them deathtouch, letting even small bodies trade up. Lords and anthems reward going wide with a unified tribe, while reach helps answer flying threats. The deck can play aggressively with evasive attackers or defensively as a wall of pointed sticks, depending on which colors and payoffs are available.
