About Kindred

Kindred is a card type that grants a noncreature card a creature subtype, such as Elf or Goblin. It does not set when you can play the card; you follow the timing rules of its other types—sorcery speed, instant speed, or permanent timing. A Kindred instant or sorcery resolves and goes to the graveyard like any other instant or sorcery. A Kindred enchantment or artifact enters the battlefield and remains there under the usual rules for that permanent type. It never becomes a creature.

In a deck, Kindred cards let tribal strategies include spells and permanents that are not creatures. They can satisfy effects that look for a specific creature type on spells or permanents, or count toward bonuses for that tribe. They add flexibility to tribal builds without changing the fundamental type of the card.
